Flavorwire: A Collection of Brilliant and Inspiring Letters from Famous Authors to Young Fans

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After I finish a book, I always try to get in touch with the author so I can express my gratitude to them for writing the book.  Over the years, I have gotten some very nice emails back from authors who appreciated my questions, comments, and praise on their book.  I thought this collection of author letters from some of the most famous writers in the world was very sweet.
Check out the link above to see the authors’ letters, and let us know which ones were your favorite.  Also, have any of you written to an author and received a note back?
Happy Tuesday All!
Try, Fail. No Matter. Try Again, Fail Again. – Inspiring Author Quotes for Writers
To get myself – and other participants – into the “writing mood” for National Novel Writing Month, – which is in 5 Days, 1 Hour, 22 Minutes and 22…21…20 Seconds(!) – I will be posting writing related posts throughout the remainder of October.  This is my first year participating so I will need all the inspiration I can get!
On The Huffington Post book “section” (online version), one “Writer Wednesday” feature is “Try Again. Fail Again” And Other Advice To Writers”, which consists of inspiring quotes about writing by some famous and classic authors.
Here are some of my favorites:
“The writer, when s/he is also an artist, is someone who admits what others don’t dare reveal.” ~ Elia Kazan.
“Books choose their authors; the act of creation is not entirely a rational and conscious one.” ~ Salman Rushdie.
“If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.” ~ Erica Jong.
“To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it’s about, but the inner music the words make.” ~ Truman Capote.
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”  ~ Samuel Beckett.
“What is written without effort is in generally read without pleasure.” ~ Samuel Johnson.
“Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write. If it is good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out the window.” ~ William Faulkner.
Also, if you are participating in NaNo this coming month, and have done it in the past, I – and I’m sure other newbies – would appreciate any advice you have about participating!
Just leave a comment in the comment section and it will benefit us all!
Thank You!  :)
