- 1967: Che Guevara-

Che Guevara, a major figure of the Cuban Revolution, was captured on October 8th, 1967 in Bolivia. The next day, October 9th, he was executed by being gunned down nine times.
Before his execution, Che was asked by a Bolivian soldier if he was thinking about his own immortality. Che answered, “No, I’m thinking about the immortality of the revolution.” When his executioner, Mario Teran, came into the hut that Che was kept in, Che told Teran, “I know you’ve come to kill me. Shoot coward! You are only going to kill a man!”

Guayaquil, the largest and most populous city in Ecuador, was founded on July 25th, 1538 by Spanish conquistador, Fracisco de Orellana.

On October 9th, 1820, a group of civilians arrested the Spanish authorities and claimed independence from Spain.
