Daily Question: Adding Life to Your Years

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Honestly, and it may just seem so simple, but one way to add more life to your years is by playing childhood games.

I don’t care how old I am; I will always and forever play hide-and-seek, capture the flag, and ghost in the graveyard when the opportunity arises.  Every summer we go to our cottage on Lake Huron, and our neighbors are boys we have grown up with.  They are a few years younger than my sister, cousin, and I but we still love hanging out with them, mainly due to the fact that they make us feel like kids again.

My greatest memories are playing those childhood games, and every summer, even now at the age of 22, I will play with the neighbor boys and revel in the feeling of acting like a child once more.

Daily Question: Mother Memories

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

My mother is amazing, and one of the most important things she has taught me is to reuse, recycle, and be thrifty!

Ever since I can remember, my mother has taken my sister and I to garage/estate/yard sales.  As I got older, I learned to appreciate the importance of a good bargain, and that the saying, “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure” is just so true.

Now, every time I’m back in the States, my mother, boyfriend (who became an avid bargain-hunter himself), and I will spend our weekends treasure hunting.  These expeditions have become some of my favorite memories with my mom, and we have even planned to open our very own re-sale shop together when I move back to the States.

For me, garage saling has become an experience I am able to treasure with my mother.

Daily Question: 90 Days Straight

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Well, concerning the fact that working without getting paid is pretty much a writer’s job, I’m already used to that!

And I would do it over and over.  I love the creative freedom, letting my imagination run wild, and the calming effect that writing gives me, so I would be more than happy to write for 90 days straight and not get paid!

Daily Question: I am Sure

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I’m sure that this November during NaNo, I will finally finish my novel.

I am sure of this because I am going to work hard, and actually get it done.  I have been procrastinating for years of finishing a novel.  I have endless story ideas, and have started at least 3 of these different ideas just this past year, and in November I am finally going to be completing one of them.

So wish me luck!

Daily Question: Every Human Being

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Every human being is beautiful, complicated, and capable of making a difference.

I sincerely believe that whatever anyone strives for to change in this world, it can happen with a little hard work and imagination.  Whether that be a good change or not, each and every one of us is capable of it.

Daily Question: My Mentor, Jane

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Well, if she would do the honor of being my mentor, I would hands down choose Jane Goodall.

I love animals, plan on dedicating my life to them, and who better to teach and guide me to the way of the animals than Dr. Jane Goodall!

She would definitely by my dream mentor.

Who would you pick as your mentor and why?

Daily Question: Wakey, Wakey! It’s a Brand New Day!

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Besides just being alive for another day, which is obviously the most important, the other best part of waking up is seeing who I’m surrounded by.

Whether it’s my boyfriend, my best friends, my parents, or even my pets, being able to wake up and see the people and animals I love and care about is the best feeling in the world.

I especially need to see them since I’m not a morning person, and they help to get me in the mood to have myself a great day!

For you, what is the best part of waking up?

Daily Question: Never Leaving Neverland

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Honestly, at the age of 22, I still don’t even feel like an adult.

Yes, the majority of the time I think like one, mostly due to the fact that I have to and I encounter “adult problems” on a daily basis – I’m talking loans, rent, worrying how much to spend on groceries, etc. – however, I don’t necessarily act like an adult.

I would rather play hide-and-seek with my (also “adult”) sister, cousin, and neighbors, than sit around talking about work, kids, and school.  I would rather stay up all night and sleep all day than vice-versa.  I would rather believe that the fantasy job I dreamed of as a child will come true, rather than coming to terms with the fact that I will be stuck doing something I don’t like.  And finally, I would rather be told I am “acting like a child”, rather than told I am “acting like an adult”.

So, I guess I haven’t become an adult to my own definition yet.  I am an adult to society, but when it comes to me, I will be a girl version of Peter Pan forever!

Daily Question: Rate Your Happiness

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Today, I am a 8 on a happiness scale.

I am still in Michigan, surrounded by my family and best friends.  Though I had an uncomfortable nights sleep last night, I woke up happy because my kitty cuddled with me all night.  We’re about to get lunch at Thai, and then thrift shop the afternoon away – my two favorite things in the world!  And finally, everyone that I love is happy and healthy.

While all of these things are amazing, the two points keeping me away from a full 10 of happiness is the fact that I leave the States next Tuesday.  Six days from now I leave my parents, sister and brother, cousin, and all of the people who give me strength, and I go back to my life in Spain.  I am excited to go back to our apartment in Madrid, and I am ready to start school once more, however just the thought of leaving the States brings my happiness level down a couple of notches.

But otherwise, I am going to enjoy the last days here with everyone, and though I will be sad when I leave, I will try to bring a positive attitude back to Spain!  :)

Daily Question: What’s Your Passion?

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

My two main passions are writing and animals.

I absolutely love writing, and have been doing it since I was a child.  I wrote my first “book” when I was 7 years old; it was a Clue murder mystery, and very morbid for a 7 year old!  Since then, I have been writing short stories, poems, and have kept a journal since I was 10 years old.  It’s really a way for me to relax, and understand both myself and everything around me.

My second big passion is animals.  Everyday, I strive to make a better life for them.  I’m a vegetarian, both because of the inhumane ways animals are slaughtered and because I don’t believe that they are here for our consumption.  I also plan on having a wildlife sanctuary later on in my life.  I want to create a peaceful environment for retired race horses and dogs, for circus animals, and for farm animals that would otherwise be slaughtered for food.

My main goal in this life to write and be an advocate for animals.  I plan on educating the world about our furry friends through my writing.
