Daily Question: Adding Life to Your Years

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Honestly, and it may just seem so simple, but one way to add more life to your years is by playing childhood games.

I don’t care how old I am; I will always and forever play hide-and-seek, capture the flag, and ghost in the graveyard when the opportunity arises.  Every summer we go to our cottage on Lake Huron, and our neighbors are boys we have grown up with.  They are a few years younger than my sister, cousin, and I but we still love hanging out with them, mainly due to the fact that they make us feel like kids again.

My greatest memories are playing those childhood games, and every summer, even now at the age of 22, I will play with the neighbor boys and revel in the feeling of acting like a child once more.

Daily Question: Every Human Being

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Every human being is beautiful, complicated, and capable of making a difference.

I sincerely believe that whatever anyone strives for to change in this world, it can happen with a little hard work and imagination.  Whether that be a good change or not, each and every one of us is capable of it.

Daily Question: What’s Your Passion?

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

My two main passions are writing and animals.

I absolutely love writing, and have been doing it since I was a child.  I wrote my first “book” when I was 7 years old; it was a Clue murder mystery, and very morbid for a 7 year old!  Since then, I have been writing short stories, poems, and have kept a journal since I was 10 years old.  It’s really a way for me to relax, and understand both myself and everything around me.

My second big passion is animals.  Everyday, I strive to make a better life for them.  I’m a vegetarian, both because of the inhumane ways animals are slaughtered and because I don’t believe that they are here for our consumption.  I also plan on having a wildlife sanctuary later on in my life.  I want to create a peaceful environment for retired race horses and dogs, for circus animals, and for farm animals that would otherwise be slaughtered for food.

My main goal in this life to write and be an advocate for animals.  I plan on educating the world about our furry friends through my writing.

Daily Question: Thank You Dad

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

My dad always says, “the most important thing in life is to be happy”.

I absolutely love that.  My father constantly tells jokes, smiles, goes out of his way to make people happy, and even when he’s having a bad day, he always tries to keep a positive attitude.

This is one of the most important lessons I have learned from him.

Daily Question: Smell Ya Later!

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

One of my favorite smells is ginger.

I use it when I make Thai peanut sauce, and it smells absolutely amazing.  It reminds me of some of my favorite Thai restaurants, and I love the aroma of it when it cooks.

Even my boyfriend, who isn’t as big of a fan of Thai food as I am, loves the smell of ginger, so I guess it really is quite an intoxicating scent!

Daily Question: This Past Month

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

June has been a pretty lazy month for me.

I’m out of school for the summer, not working, and while I wait to go to the States next month, my main tasks are cleaning and taking care of the house.

However, I have had a moment that stood out from all of the others.  Since I’ve been a little bored at home, and have lost a lot of motivation, my boyfriend and I have been brainstorming story ideas for me to write.  I have had one main idea in my head for a long time now, and I usually don’t tell my story ideas to anyone, but I know my boyfriend is a creative person, so I figured he could help.

And help he did.  My original story was supposed to be a short-film script or a short-story, but after coming up with lots of plot twists, complex characters, and more content than was originally planned, my boyfriend convinced me to lengthen it into a novel.

It’s not even half-way done yet, but I have been working on it, and with my boyfriend’s help, it’s turning out good.  It has been one of the few stories I’ve written that I have been able to completely connect with, which is important for a writer.  This has been a huge moment for me that has stood out this month.

Daily Question: The Peace Room

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

If I had an extra room, I would make it into the Peace Room.

The walls of my Peace Room would be built-in bookshelves, with a little space for a fireplace and lots of open windows.  The floor would be beach sand and a bucket of water outside the door to wash your feet so no sand would get in the rest of the house.  There would be lots of comfortable chairs, a small desk to write, and plants in every corner for fresh oxygen.  Maybe even a table with an electric tea maker!

Of course, since it’s called the Peace Room, there would be no technology allowed in.   No telephones, no iPads, and no video games.  This is a place to relax, daydream, and get away from all of the things that have made our species distracted from the important things.

Daily Question: Instantly Better

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

There’s a lot of things that can make me feel instantly better.

Hot tea and a cigarette are two combinations that allow me to relax.  Even in the summer, I love myself a cup of hot tea – and sometimes I switch it up with iced tea.  And the icing on the cake is a cigarette, even though it’s unfortunate and stupid of me to depend on them.

Another thing is hugging my pets.  I love my pets, especially my dog, Juno.  However, I don’t get to see him as much because he lives at my dad’s house.  But every time I’m over there (whenever I’m back in the States), I try to spend the entire weekend with Juno.

And finally, watching a movie, or one of our TV shows, with my boyfriend makes me feel instantly better.  We both love movies, and we actually met at a filmmakers workshop, so watching our favorite film together brings back memories and is a fun bonding time.

Daily Question: Yearning for Childhood

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I miss many things about childhood.

I miss not worrying about money and duties.  Currently, I am stressing about my financial situation and I would love to go back to the days when a $10 allowance was enough to hold me for the month.

I miss going on random, carefree adventures.  My sister, cousins, and I used to just roam aimlessly, getting in trouble and having fun without a care in the world.  Now, adventures are usually planned and it’s not the same as when you were a kid.

But I think the thing I miss most about childhood would be playing hide-and-seek.  Of course I can still play it, and trust me I do(!), but being 22 years old and playing one of the best childhood games causes people to stare at you and ask, “when are you going to grow up”.

Daily Question: Holding You Back

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Lack of motivation or just general laziness can hold people back.

I know it has held me back before, but once you realize all you can achieve by getting up off your ass and actually working hard, it makes life a whole lot better and more fun.

What do you think is a bad habit that holds people back?
