Daily Question: I am Sure

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I’m sure that this November during NaNo, I will finally finish my novel.

I am sure of this because I am going to work hard, and actually get it done.  I have been procrastinating for years of finishing a novel.  I have endless story ideas, and have started at least 3 of these different ideas just this past year, and in November I am finally going to be completing one of them.

So wish me luck!

Daily Question: Rate Your Happiness

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Today, I am a 8 on a happiness scale.

I am still in Michigan, surrounded by my family and best friends.  Though I had an uncomfortable nights sleep last night, I woke up happy because my kitty cuddled with me all night.  We’re about to get lunch at Thai, and then thrift shop the afternoon away – my two favorite things in the world!  And finally, everyone that I love is happy and healthy.

While all of these things are amazing, the two points keeping me away from a full 10 of happiness is the fact that I leave the States next Tuesday.  Six days from now I leave my parents, sister and brother, cousin, and all of the people who give me strength, and I go back to my life in Spain.  I am excited to go back to our apartment in Madrid, and I am ready to start school once more, however just the thought of leaving the States brings my happiness level down a couple of notches.

But otherwise, I am going to enjoy the last days here with everyone, and though I will be sad when I leave, I will try to bring a positive attitude back to Spain!  :)

Daily Question: You Are My Best Friend

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I’ve had many best friends over the years, and they always seem to come in three.  However, since time has moved on, and I’ve moved around, the only two that have stuck with me through everything, and are the ones that will be my best friends forever, no matter what, are my sister and my cousin.

It’s quite convenient that they are related to me.  Even if we do get in fights, we are practically “forced” to make up since we are family.  Those two are my world, and I miss them every day when I’m in Spain but I do talk to them on a daily basis.

My third best friend – because like I said, they come in threes – is my boyfriend.  He means everything to me, and the most amazing thing about him is that he gets along with my sister and cousin.

I really couldn’t ask for better friends.  I know I can always depend on them, and vice versa, and even though I may be far away, it does give me strength to know that I have them no matter what.

Daily Question: You’re My Hero

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

There are many things that can make someone a “hero”.

A hero is someone who fights for what they believe in, but does not manipulate people to see their point.  Instead, they use their words and actions as an example.

A hero is someone who does the right thing, even when it’s not necessarily the popular choice.

A hero is someone who has self-respect for themselves, but will also go out of their way to help others.

And most importantly, a hero is someone who fights to change the world for the better, and not only for their own lives, but for everyone and everything.

Daily Question: Your Unknown Age

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I don’t know if I would think about it.

Age in the form of a number doesn’t necessarily matter.  You age whether you know how old you are or not.  Your body changes regardless and you gain experience with time.

However, if I HAD to choose an age number to tell people if I did not know my true age, I would probably say I was 23.  I think that’s a perfect age to be.  Yes, I’m only 22 and I do not know what 23 will bring me, but it’s universally old enough to drink, drive, and is an acceptable age to have a career, family, and children.  Of course as I continue to age, I may have to raise that number to 33, 43, 53, and so on!

Daily Question: Best of Both Worlds

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

Honestly, I don’t think you should give up anything to be successful.

Yes, maybe your relaxing, free time you may have to give up, but other than that, I don’t think it should be anything bigger.

Family, friends, pets, hobbies, and things you love should never be given up.  I believe a lot of times it’s possible to “have your cake and eat it too”.  If you work hard enough, you should still be able to have success, and keep all the things that are important to you.

Daily Question: 3 Powerful Words

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I think the three most powerful words in the English language are: religion, sex, and hate.

Religion is one because the world literally runs on it.  People kill over it, dedicate their lives to it, and either look down or up to others based on their religion.  While many people do love to talk about their beliefs and religion, it’s also a very touchy subject and can escalate into an argument.

Sex is another powerful word because of the reactions people have when they hear it.  People may cringe, try to change the subject, obsess about it, or even give every detail about their own sexual experiences.  Parents dread the day when they have to give “the talk” to their kids, and the government goes to many lengths to censor it.  While it may be a natural part of life, every person reacts differently to the the word sex.

And finally, I think hate is a powerful word.  I would say love, however “love” seems to be used to carelessly.  We use it with our family, friends, children, our pets, or even people we have just met.  We even use it with foods, objects, hobbies, and celebrities.  Hate on the other hand is much more powerful.  Yes, we can say, “I hate broccoli”, or “I hate going to school”, however when we use it to say how we feel about another person, we are automatically filled wit rage.  It’s such a negative word that I think it shouldn’t even be used.

Daily Question: What Every Child Deserves

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I think that every child deserves to dream big.

I know that some parents try to encourage their children to stay out of their heads and focus on reality, or to stop drawing in their room and to make some friends, or to get their nose out of a book and go outside to play.  Of course, children need variety, and drawing, reading, and daydreaming all day is not healthy or ideal, but allowing children the option to dream is very important.  One part of childhood is believing in magic and things that most adults have grown out of, and children are beautiful because of this ability.  I think it’s important for parents to encourage creativity, imagination, and unrealistic goals.

As a kid, I had a wild imagination and unrealistic dreams of the future (and still do).  And because of that, I have adapted the mind set that nothing is impossible, and with enough work, anything can be achieved.  Dreaming big has also allowed me to be a more open-minded person, which also helps me be a better writer.  I’m the girl, at the age of 22, who still believes in unicorns and mermaids, has trust that good people will stay the same and bad people can change, and that each one of us has the ability to make an impact on the world.  Realistic?  I don’t know, but it allows me to sleep better at night.

Daily Question: Let’s Go on an Adventure

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

I think everyone should experience an adventure at least once.

I know the word “adventure” is vague, and each person has their own definition of what an “adventure” is.  And that’s the beauty of it, because what I may not find as being an “adventure” may be the biggest adventure to someone else.

So, I think that everyone, at least once, should go on their own version of an adventure.

Daily Question: A Life for a Cause

Daily Question by Thought Questions

A:

The fight for animals and their rights as sentient beings.

I like to think, though his death was tragic, that Steve Irwin died doing what he loved and by something that he loved (for those who don’t know, he died from a sting ray piercing his heart).  He died noble, and educating the world about a vast number of animal species.

I would willingly give my life as well to fight for animals, and give them a world where they are respected, loved, and are safe from humans who use them as objects instead of beings.
